Indonesia is a big country with thousand islands, and in each island even the cities inside have many different tribes cultures, customs, ancient places, natural attraction places, even the unique faunas and floras. And for this chance i will discuss about original fruit from Indonesia (^___^)
Fruits are very important to our body, and i really love to eat them *i hope you love them too... They are healthy foods that taste fresh and delicious. They contain many highly nutritious and vitamis that useful for our body. And these are original fruit from Indonesia that had to go international XD :
1. Durian
Many people don't know that this 'King Of Fruit' is from Indonesia. This typical fruit was known for its stinging scent, spiny skin and soft fruit. Durians wass found in Sumatra Island and Kalimantan Island. Its delicacy of taste made the other countries are competing to cultivate them. Now, there are hundreds of durian variants scattered throughout the world including in Thailand which successfully developed the 300 variant of durian :o
2. Mangosteen
Mangosteen is the 'Queen Of Fruit' from Indonesia. The fruit that was originally discovered in Borneo and the Sunda region is sour-sweet taste and very fresh. In addition, this purple fruit also contains many vitamis and antioxidants that are good for our bodies. Queen Victoria of England was very love to eat the mangosteen :)
3. Kedondong
The fruit that has thorny seeds was came from the eastern part of Indonesia. Internationally, the fruit with the awesomeness of sour flavor is called by the name of Ambarella. In the early 20th century, kedondong is introduced to foreign countries start from Australia to Jamaica. In fact, kedondong had also grown in Florida, but American people doesn't know this kind of fruit.
4. Jambu Air
This kind of fruit is produced from tropical trees in Indonesia. The flowers are white, while the bell-shaped fruit that have whitish color variation (red and green), depending on its type. Typically, the red one has the sweetest flavor. This Jambu Air was known abroad under the name of Java Apple. In some countries, this fruit was made into salad.
5. Belimbing or Carambola
This fruit was originally from Moluccas Island. Initially, this fruit is a favourite in Asia then later became known to Americans especially in Florida. The fruit nickname is Starfruit because if the fruit is cut, it has star shape. Western people said that the taste of Belimbing was mixed from the flavors of papaya, oranges and grapes.
6. Banana
This fruit originally is came from Indonesia. This fruit was processed to kinds of desserts leki banana split, banana cake or banana pudding. It was brought to Europe in the early of 10th century. Now, America Latin was the one who became the largest producer because it controls 65% banana production of the world. Some top selebrities like Parris Hilton believe that eating banana can add energy :)
7. Rambutan
This fruit was called 'rambutan' in Indonesia because its skin like overgrown with hair. In 1906 Indonesia had to export rambutan seeds to the United States but unfortunately, rambutan can not live there. Now, some countries like Thailand and Malaysia known as an exporter of rambutan that has been packed in cans.
8. Salak
Salak is called as Snake Fruit because its skin is scaly. The fruit is originally from Indonesia, even one of the variants, salak conder became the identity of Jakarta city. There are various kinds of snake fruit flavors, ranging from the sweet,
sepat, sour or the from the combination. Unfortunately, many people thought that the fruit came from Thailand or Malaysia, not Indonesia.
9. Duku
This small round yellow fruit is one of the genuine pride of Indonesia ^^ . The tree was used as the identity of the flora of South Sumatra province. Typically, duku harvested once a year. In the domestic and Asia, Duku has great demand, but unfortunately its export haven't penetrated the American and European market yet.
They are the fruit that originally came from Indonesia. Let's spread to the world so the world will know that Indonesia has many characteristic and very unique ^^
